Prior to joining Tarpley & Underwood, Cheryl was employed in public and private accounting. She joined T&U in 1993 and became a shareholder as of January 1, 1999. Cheryl has over 20 years of professional experience specifically working in healthcare. Cheryl’s specialization with medical practices includes mergers and buyouts. She works both with independent physician associations and group practices. She has been instrumental in the negotiation of contracts for physicians, determining capitation levels under managed care contracts, and monitoring quality assurance and risk management. Additionally, Cheryl heads the Small Business Group where she oversees the accounting, auditing, and tax work for smaller closely-held companies in the wholesale and distribution, retail, and construction industries. She has significant experience in audits of ERISA plans including both 401K and health and welfare plans. Cheryl is a member of The Heath Care Section of the Georgia Society of CPAs and served on The Education Committee for the Society’s Gwinnett Chapter. Cheryl graduated summa cum laude form Georgia State University.
Cheryl has served as the Co-Chair for the Norcross First Baptist Church Finance Committee and as a member of the Advisory Board of the Norcross Cooperative Ministry. She also serves as a member of various boards for medical and hospital organizations, as well as a past President of the Adaptive Learning Center. She has also served as the Treasurer of WEB, a network of Benefits Professionals. Cheryl lives with her husband, David, in Norcross and they have one daughter. |
