Tarpley & Underwood’s commitment to excellence begins with our professionals. Our team members belong to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA).

The shareholders at Tarpley & Underwood have tremendous experience in leadership rolls. Both of the founding partners, Harvey Tarpley and Jim Underwood, have served as presidents of the GSCPA. Robert Prator has served as chairman on the Peer Review Executive Committee of the GSCPA and the Peer Review Board of the AICPA. He serves on the board of the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center. Robert was named among the top thirty of the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Who’s Who for top accounting professionals – as was another shareholder, John Carpentier. Brad Dickson serves as a member of the GSCPA’s Tax Section Leadership Committee and is the chair of the Georgia Legislation Committee. Brad also has chaired the International Business Committee of the GSCPA. Cheryl Yarbrough is a member of the GSCPA Healthcare Committee and a member of the Gwinnett Chapter’s Education Committee. All shareholders serve on not-for-profit boards within our community.

The firm is required to meet stringent quality control standards and to undergo regular peer reviews. Tarpley & Underwood has received the most favorable report possible—an unqualified opinion with no letter of comment.
We value the reputation that we have built through diligence and we strive to progress continually.

Robert Prator is the President Elect (incoming President) for the Georgia Society of CPAs.

Brad Dickson, CPA and Tax Partner, has been named Distinguished Member of the Year through the Georgia Society of CPAs. This esteemed honor is given to one individual each year that represents the Society by doing exemplary work continually throughout the year. Brad has served the Society in many roles over the past several years. He has been a member of the International Business Committee and the Trial Board. More notably, he has chaired the Taxation Section in 2007 and 2008. His leadership in the Taxation Section alone earned him this very same award in 2007.
