Prior to joining Tarpley & Underwood, Nick was a tax manager in the real estate group for the CPA firms of Arthur Andersen and Deloitte & Touche, both in Atlanta. Nick joined the Firm in 2002 as a tax manager, and was invited to become a partner in 2007.
In his twelve years of professional experience, he has worked with closely held and public companies as well as with the owners/executives of these organizations. He has focused almost exclusively on pass-through entities like partnerships and limited liability companies. He also has extensive experience with S corporations.
Business client engagements include companies in the real estate, construction, and medical fields. In addition to the tax compliance, Nick advises clients on tax issues regarding business start-up, reorganizations, IRS controversies including offers-in-compromise, tax basis and debt issues, cost segregation studies, and tax planning for businesses and individuals. He has also instructed several continuing education programs. Individual client engagements include extensive income tax planning with a focus on tax saving techniques and wealth transfer strategies through the use of family limited partnerships. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he is a member of the Real Estate Section.
Nick received his BBA in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University, where he attended school on a swimming scholarship. He now stays active through golf and hiking. Nick and his wife, Alice, have two children and currently live in the Peachtree Corners neighborhood. |
